Leon Egan

Books & Audio Drama

Hello, I’m Leon (he/they). I’m a writer, actor and sound designer. Whatever medium I’m working with, I love telling stories about human connection.

Leon Egan (he/they) is a queer transmasc author based in Liverpool

Leon’s debut novel, LOVER BIRDS (2024, Harper Fire), is a rom-com about love in all its forms – the love they have love for their home city, the chaotic and uniquely intense love that can only be shared by a group of teenage girls, the kinds of love that can be found in the most unexpected places – and most importantly, it is about learning to love the messy, embarrassing parts of yourself.

His second book, LISTEN CLOSELY (2025, Harper Fire), is a rom-com about audio dramas, trans kids, struggling to come to grips with a world that can be hard to understand at times, and about the masks we choose to hide behind.

Leon’s audio drama, Tell No Tales (published under Wasting Company Time Productions, distributed by Twin Strangers Productions) is a compassionate take on ghost stories. The slowly unravelling plot focuses on Leo Quinn’s efforts to fight back against the unethical business practices of the ghost-removal company they work for. Each episode brings a new ghost with new tales to tell, with an emphasis on grief, loss, and the love we have for the people and places we leave behind.

When not writing for either of these mediums, Leon can usually be found sound-designing for Tell No Tales, day-dreaming about future projects (which he is NOT allowed to do until he’s made more progess on his current WIPs, but that doesn’t stop him) or voice acting for numerous audio dramas, including Eeler’s Choice, Syntax, Forged Bonds, and The Attic Monologues. He probably had a good night’s sleep once or twice, but if he did, he doesn’t remember it. It must have been nice, though.

Press Kit

Please note, I am transmasc non-binary and use he/him or they/them pronouns. Either is fine, whether you choose one set or use them interchangably (e.g, ‘their upcoming book’, ‘he is based in Liverpool’, ‘we’d really like to give them a million pounds and a puppy’, etc.). Mx is preferred (as opposed to Ms or Mr) if required.
